What Ed St. John Could Have Done
Ed St. John (right)says he hated two of his dad's businesses (one manufactured and one distributed building materials) and loved one (building and renting warehouses). When his father passed away, his mother told him to "give up up the foolishness of flying" (he was training to become a US Air Force test pilot), and so a development biz is what now carries the St. John stamp. Speaking at the University of Baltimore's Merrick School of Business Lessons with the Legends series recently, he also extolled the virtues of cash for two reasons: You're not at the mercy of the banks, and you can acquire quickly. Above, Ed is with St. John Properties prez Larry Maykrantz.
