Redeveloped Central Savings Bank Building To Include New Home Of David And Dad’s
Developer Poverni Sheikh Group is nearing completion of its $7M transformation of the former Central Savings Bank building in downtown Baltimore into apartments and retail, which will include the new home of longtime Charles Street business David and Dad’s Café.
The café, CorCycle spin studio and 24 apartments will open this summer at 113 N Charles St, Poverni Sheikh Group principal Eugene Poverni says. Called The Vault, the project’s retail component will open first, hopefully in July, followed by the apartments.
Studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments will start at $1,200. Eugene says he’s talking to high-end wine shops and other restaurants to fill up the remaining 2k SF in the building.
After 22 years at 334 N Charles St, café owner David Cangialosi says the bigger David and Dad's location will help it better serve the growing number of residents in downtown Baltimore. The new, 4,500 SF spot will seat 80 and is likely to include a liquor license, which means it can extend its hours into the evening with happy hours or dinner. The current 60-seat location serves breakfast and lunch.
David and Dad's also operates two express locations: at the T. Rowe Price building at 100 E Pratt St and the Kennedy Krieger Institute at 801 N Broadway.
