This Is The Country's First Apartment Complex With Refrigerated Lockers
A Baltimore apartment community is the first in the country to implement a refrigerated locker system from Silicon Valley startup Smiota.
2Hopkins, a Class-A development in Downtown Baltimore, debuted the service in early August with eight refrigerated and 62 dry lockers as an amenity for its residents. The service is designed to allow for food deliveries to stay fresh longer when residents are away from home without extra packing materials.
Lockers can range in temperature from chill to frozen, according to a press release, and are accessed and controlled through Smiota's Locker Operating System.
2Hopkins is a 183-unit high-rise operated by LIVEbe Communities, the multifamily division of Berman Enterprises. It adds the refrigerated locker system to an amenity list that includes a 21st-floor resident lounge and fitness center, a yoga studio, a bike storage and repair area and a pet spa with large and small dog areas.
According to a study by the National Multifamily Housing Council provided by LIVEbe, package management solutions are the most sought-after amenities, aside from location, for apartment tenants.
