Amazon Goes Multi-Storey For 2M SF Midlands Requirement
Amazon is searching for a 2.2M SF fulfilment centre in a move that will bring multi-storey warehousing to the Midlands.
The online giant is looking for a site for a four-storey warehouse, Property Week reports.
The retailer is understood to be looking for a development partner for the project, which would replicate some of the innovations at their new warehouses at Central Park, Avonmouth, Bristol, where it has a 2.2M SF multi-level warehouse on a 500K SF footprint, all on a 33 acre site.
Amazon adopted a similar multi-level approach at the London Distribution Park, Tilbury, where more than 2M SF was created on a 550K SF footprint.
The deals mark a massive increase in property market activity by Amazon, whose take-up was 4M SF in 2017, according to data from Savills.
