Harworth Focus On Midlands As It Scores Double-Digit Growth
Harworth Group, the sheds-to-beds developer focusing on ex-coalfield sites in the Midlands and North, has reported a second year of double digit asset growth, up 12.5%, the same as in 2016.
The land business has secured planning permission for another 3M SF of commercial floorspace, bringing their consented total to 12.13M SF.
Attention will now turn to their ambitions in the Midlands, and in particular to the 106-acre Chatterley Valley site near Stoke on Trent, where Harworth recently acquired the final 80 acres.
"The big Midlands opportunity is Chatterley Valley where we could see up to 1M SF of new commercial floorspace. There’s a lot of technical work still to do on the site, but we are hoping that by later this year we will have level building platforms,” Harworth Chief Executive Owen Michaelson told Bisnow.
The focus on the Midlands comes as investors continue to pour money into the region's logistics property. The recent sale of the £320M Powerhouse Portfolio of M6 motorway sites to InfraRed Capital Partners is expected to be followed by a rash of spring deals.
