This will unlock and revive an area that was the original heart of Boston 300 years ago, HYM managing director Tom O'Brien tells us. (We can finally drink Sam Adams where Sam Adams drank it.) On Thursday, the BRA board approved the plan to develop six buildings, which will include 812 housing units, 196 hotel rooms, 1.2M SF of office, 83k SF of retail, and 1,159 parking spaces. HYM's team includes financial partners National Real Estate Advisors, Britannia Pacific, CBT Architects, and McNamara Salvia Engineers. It'll be built in three phases, with construction likely to start in one year. Finally, Government Center will be reunited with the rest of downtown, erasing one of the last scars left by the urban redevelopment era.
