Skanska SVP Andrew Quirk leads the company's Center for Healthcare Excellence, providing construction and developmentconsulting for clients including Stamford Hospital in Connecticut, which is investing about $180M for construction of an addition, a new energy plant, and to renovate its existing hospital. Andrew says this reflects the need for hospitals to modernize facilities to serve more patients, more efficiently. Last month, Stamford started construction on the addition, which it expects to complete Q1 '13. Andrew says that Skanska USA Building gave Stamford pre-construction planning services and is the project construction manager. |
Whelan Associates principal Bill Whelan is implementing a real estate strategy he helped to plan for Brockton-based Signature Health Care, which owns or leases about 1M SF. Bill, who founded the firm with his father William N. Whelan, the former chairman of Spaulding & Slye Colliers, says its core discipline is value-add commercial development, focusing on healthcare and medical facilities. In-house disciplines: construction, property management, leasing, and advisory services. Other recent clients:Cape Cod Health Care in Hyannis and Falmouth, and Jordan Hospital in Plymouth.
