That changed yesterday when Interior Secretary Ken Salazar met with Governor Patrick to announce his approval for the nation's first offshore wind farm, to be built in Nantucket Sound. |

| Sec. Salazar said it will create several hundred construction jobs and generate enough power to meet 75% of the Cape and Islands? needs. (And, oh yeah, chart a new course for US energy use.) He says the wind turbines will provide cleaner energy, in effect removing 175k cars from the road a year. But longtime opponents say they'll continue to challenge its development. Also on hand: US Director of Minerals Management Service Liz Birnbaum, Deputy Sec. of the Interior David Hayes, Lt. Governor Tim Murray, and MA Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Ian Bowles. |
