Good Construction News, Too
December 9, 2010
Yesterday, Gilbane Building Co's Mark Hanchar (whom we snapped at a recent NAIOP event) told us that as a preconstruction specialist who travels around the country, he's seeing more projects move from master planning to engineering (like the $25M VA Hospital job in Providence). That's a positive sign for the construction industry, especially companies doing institutional work. Mark?s working on Genzyme?s new $200M Cell Culture Manufacturing and lab facility in Framingham. Gilbane, which does $3B a year in revenues, is construction manager. BTW, Mark wants to clarify: Gilbane hasn't opened a new office in Boston. It just officially designated the office it's had here for years as the lead office for New England. |
