IFMA PARTY SHOE FITS
December 6, 2010
Thursday evening, we dropped by the International Facilities Management Association gala at the Colonial Theater, where we got the inside—or interiors—scoop. Just before they joined the crowd on stage to learn the silent auction results, we snapped MPA principal Mark Margulies and Smith + St. John's Gregor Smith. Gala proceeds benefit The SPARK Center, a children?s program that serves families affected by complex medical, emotional, behavioral, or developmental issues. Once his Santa suit is stowed away, Mark will pick up the mantel he received Tuesday as chair of Heading Home, which places homeless families in housing. MPA is doing interiors for Forrester Research in Cambridge and Goodrich ISR in Westford. Gregor is revitalizing the core and shell of the old Forsyth building owned by the MFA. Gala sponsors included MPA, Callahan Construction, Club T Productions and Gale Associates. |
Who could resist snapping Jim Burke, CEO of Allegheny Contract, in his white boa? Simply divine. He's with colleague Peter St. Gelais who told us about the flooring job Allegheny did for Camp Dresser McKee?s HQ at 50 Hampshire St in Cambridge. After they pulled up 150k SF of carpet tile, they recycled it all. Allegheny has a lot of other flooring jobs going: Boston Financial Data Services,Boston Medical Center?s Moakley Pavilion, Cisco Systems in Boxboro, Harvard Business School, Harvard University's Blackstone Building, and the Seaport Hotel, among others. |
