Kudos for JHT

The John Hancock Tower was chosen to receive the AIA's 25-Year Award earlier this month. Designed by I.M. Pei & Partners, the architect?s group says New England?s tallest high-rise has demonstrated excellence in function, distinction in the executionof its original program, and made a creative statement judging by today's standards. The balance it strove for survives. It's massive enough to be economically viable yet the rhomboid glass-clad tower designed by Henry Cobb is delicate enough to fit on a tight site and enhance the small, historic treasures that surround it. |
