Lab Central: Unlocking Science Innovation
Gov. Deval Patrick and a giant hammercelebrated the construction start of Lab Central, a life science incubator.The 27k SF facility at 700 Main St in Kendall Square (owned by MIT and slated to open in November) was founded by Dr. Johannes Fruehauf, Peter Parker(not of the Spider Man variety), and Tim Rowe, CEO of the Cambridge Innovation Center, which has a 12-year track record of supporting entrepreneurial start-ups. Also spotted: US Sen. Mary Landrieu, chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business.Lab Central funding comes from the states 10-year, $1B Life Sciences Initiative.
