Student Life is Good
April 12, 2011
We remember when colleges trying to attract students would hire professors you'd want to spend the night with. Now they're focusing on dorms you want to spend the night in. And according to Goulston & Storrs Matthew Kiefer, some in the area go further, making dorms a very comfortable way of life. |
Matthew is working with Berklee College of Music to win city approvals for a new 155k SF student residence with 350 bedsdesigned by William Rawn Associates. The Menino administration has been encouraging colleges and universities to get more students living in dorms and out of apartments in surrounding neighborhoods where they push up rents and push out the locals. To lure these hardworking academics, more schools are designing dorms that blur the line with apartments by having more kitchen and living room space.
