THE BISNOW SCHMOOZE ROAD SHOW
February 26, 2010
In Manhattan Wednesday, we were delighted to host NYC Economic Development Corp president Seth Pinksy, and many others in our monthly NYC conference series on real estate issues. Seth talked about his efforts to not only transform the five boroughs physically from Coney Island to Willets Point to the 2nd Ave subway, but to transform how it does business and to find industries of the future(ie, not just finance) by encouraging young entrepreneurs to want to live and work there. |
In Chicago, we snapped America?s tallest building, Sears Tower (now technically Willis Tower) in balmy 40 degree weather, as we were en route to our latest Bisnow Breakfast & Schmooze there. The arrow points to the 66th floor Metropolitan Club where we've developed a pleasant habit of holding our events. One featured speaker, Lee Golub, helps run Golub & Co, which has owned, developed, or managed 30 million SF of commercial space and 50,000 multifamily units. He and others predicted a coming rent spike—give it a year or two, but then really kicking in around 2013 to ?15 due to constrained product and echo boomer demographics. |
