THE SCOOP ON BUILDING IMPACT PARTIES
How did these party animals from Building Impact—Sarah Gudernatch, Lisa Guyon, Jennifer Green, Paul Teplitz, and David Katz— become the planners for CRE industry events that support children, families, and vets? It grew out of Lisa?s work doing tenant services for Paradigm Properties. As she got to know people in their buildings, she asked what they did for the community. The usual response, ?Not much but we?d like to.? She organized lunchtime volunteer events then realized, ?This is a model that can go to every building in Boston.? With founders Paradigm, Bulfinch, Davis Cos,New Boston Fund, and National Development Fund, the 8-person BI squad runs events in offices around town that deliver volunteers, money, and goods to 30 area non-profits.

Alison Spindler, Sarah, and David are reviewing the tally of BI?s '09 good deeds. It mobilized 2,030 office workers for 4,000 hours and collected $35k and 23k items like clothes, backpacks, food, and school supplies. Lisa says the idea is to ?bring volunteer opportunities to everyone's office doorstep.? Great idea, we might add.
