Bioss signed-up for additional space at 500 West Cummings Park, bringing its total occupancy to 5,000 SF. This is its sixth expansion here since 2010 when it leased about 200 SF from Cummings' executive office suites division. Bioss is an antibody manufacturer that provides custom antibody and peptide services to top-tier researchers at places like MIT, Harvard and the FDA.

CONSTRUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Boston Children's Hospital plans to build three projects totaling 720k SF and $989M over the next 10 years. It won city approval on Thursday for an $850M, 445K SF clinical building at 55 Shattuck St in the LMA with inpatient beds, a surgical facility, clinical, and clinical support spaces; a 246k SF office building with retail and parking at 819 Beacon St in Audobon Circle; and a new patient and family parking garage Addition with 76 new parking spaces.

Boston University Medical Center will develop four new buildings in the South End, totaling $521M and 698k SF: the Moakley Cancer Center Addition, 28k SF for outpatient care 830 Harrison Ave; phase one of a new 82k SF inpatient building and the 323k SF phase two; and a 219k SF administration and clinical building. It will also relo a 36k SF energy facility and replace a patient transport bridge.

BU is also moving through the City approval process for a new 150k SF Center for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering at 610 Comm Ave for its own use. It will contain academic, research, office, and administrative space and still requires additional approvals.

Northeastern University will build a $225M, 197k SF Interdisciplincary Science and Engineering Building at 795 Columbus Ave, now a parking lot. The LEED silver building will accommodate research, office, classroom, and student space and a cafe.

Cathartes/AEW Portland Street IV, LLC and Pizzuti Development won City approval for the $20M renovation and conversion of the vacant Forecaster Building in Bulfinch Triangle including a four-story addition. It will become 80 condominiums, 3700 SF of retail and parking for 32 cars with electrical charging systems.

Bruce Daniel and Sousa Design Architects plan to develop a 34-unit condominium building at 205 E Street in South Boston, including four affordable units, and parking for 63 cars. They expect to start construction in March and complete it in '15.

The same development team won City approval to build an adjacent $12.5M, 29-unit condominium building at 225 Dorchester St in a vacant Archdiocese of Boston church built in 1874. It will include four affordable residences and underground parking. Construction is planned to start in March and be completed in '15.

Allure Boston and Pisani + Associates are planning an $8M, 30-unit condominium project at 11 Dorchester St in Southie to replace a New England Auto Body repair shop. The project will include 2,230 SF of retail and parking for 54 cars. They expect to start 12 months of construction in Q2 '14.

Urbanica and Urbanica Design plan to develop a $9M, 20-unit condominium project at 50 Symphoney Rd in the Fenway on a vacant 6,000 SF lot. Construction of the five-story, double-bow-front building that will include 11 parking spaces, is expected to start next spring and be completed summer '15.
