September 14, 2010
Boston may not be among the Top 10 US bedbug cities, but they still have a taste for chowder: We're No. 11 on Terminix?s list of the most infested. Hotel guests, among others, have horror stories to tell. Bisnow NY-based reporter Amanda Marsh sent us this biting war story from the Big Apple. The local bug killer, Metro Pest Control, has seen a 100% increase in these pesky critters visiting commercial spaces this year brought in by tenants with residential infestations. How do you know they're in your building? The telltale signs: droppings, bloodstains, the bugs themselves, and itchy, bitten workers. They can hide in cracks of 1/32 of an inch and survive without a blood meal for more than a year. The solution is regularly scheduled inspections and monthly chemical sprays that leave a residual deterrent. |
