Feels like we're peeping... because we are. Several years ago,Harvard University started to develop a major new academic center in Allston and built a foundation along Western Ave. But when the recession hit, it paused construction and fenced off the sprawling site. On Monday, Harvard announced it will resume planning and development for a two phase project with academic space and labs on the Western Ave foundation, residences, and retail in Barry's Corner. Also, it will have an enterprise research campus with commercial space, labs, a hotel and conference center. It will move ahead with planning for phase one, find private development partners for parts of the project, and hopes to start construction in '13. |
