NAIOP Honors Leventhal, Alexandria
We joined more than 1,000 property industry pros Thursday for NAIOP’s awards dinner at the Westin Waterfront. Landlords, brokers designers, attorneys, et al gathered to honor Alan Leventhal (above center), chairman and CEO of the private real estate investment firm Beacon Capital Partners, which owns nearly 18M SF in global gateway cities. Since its inception in 1998, Beacon has raised over $11B in equity for office investments and through its funds made more than 90 investments and disposed of investments valued at nearly $14B. Like his father Norman, Alan is among Boston's leading philanthropists.
The other honoree was Alexandria Real Estate Equities, which is developing or owns about 5M SF of life science space in the region. The landlord/developer was represented by EVP and regional market director Tom Andrews (center). Alexandria is a major player throughout the region, with a focus in the LMA and on changing the face of East Cambridge with its extensive development and construction in the burgeoning life science market.
