SURVEY: Bisnow Wants Your Take On Opportunity Zones In Massachusetts

Not all opportunity zones are created equal, especially in Massachusetts.

The 138 low-income tracts across Massachusetts designated as opportunity zones offer developers a chance at significant tax breaks if they build and hold onto projects for upward of 10 years. But while the opportunity zone program at face value aims to bring economic tailwinds to less desirable areas, there are OZs in Massachusetts that have real estate analysts scratching their heads.

Places like Provincetown and Barnstable, two popular Cape Cod vacation destinations, and the Alewife section of West Cambridge, already a hot life science development zone, are opportunity zones just like Leominster and Fall River, areas more widely seen as needing an economic boost.

So Bisnow wants to hear from you: Do some Massachusetts opportunity zones stick out to you? What kind of projects do you expect to see move forward in these areas? Will the OZ program lead to a development bonanza across the state or just in a select few regions?

Click here, or start below, to take part in Bisnow’s opportunity zone survey, and let us know how you feel about the program’s rollout in the Bay State.
