Davis Cos. Taps Former Massport Partner For New DEI Role
The Davis Cos. has hired a former collaborator on the Omni Boston Hotel project to lead its internal diversity efforts.
Tanya Mitchell has been named The Davis Cos.’ new director of human resources and DEI initiatives, the company announced this week. The former Massachusetts Port Authority administrator worked with the firm in its diversity efforts at the under-construction Omni Boston Hotel in the Seaport, securing 37 minority investors and a diverse joint venture partnership, The Davis Cos. said in the announcement.
“I am truly excited to join TDC, a trailblazing firm within the real estate industry in a variety of respects,” Mitchell said in a statement.
Davis co-President Rick McCready highlighted his firm’s collaboration with Mitchell on the diversity and inclusion goals at the Omni in a statement, and he said he’s eager to work with Mitchell to further his firm’s DEI efforts in recruitment and hiring.
Mitchell spent eight years at Massport and recently served as the agency’s acting D&I and compliance real estate project administrator. The Omni Boston Hotel project also brought together the firms of John Moriarty and Roxbury-based Greg Janey. Minority business leaders have cited the Omni's development as a model of success for Minority Business Enterprise inclusion.
Before Massport, Mitchell was the certification specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certification Program, and served in analytical and management roles at retailers Talbots, The TJX Cos. and The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co.
Mitchell holds a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute and NAIOP.
