Biogen Idec's Back
On Tuesday, Biogen Idec celebrated the opening of 225 Binney St, the first of two new buildings (totaling nearly 500k SF) that it will occupy in Kendall Square. Binney Street is part of a $500M complex that Alexandria is developing. Boston Properties has another building under construction nearby for the biotech company. In ’11, Biogen Idec had moved many of its people to Weston, leaving others in its original hometown of Cambridge. When George Scangos became CEO several months later, he decided to reunite the company. It will enhance the collaboration needed to make decisions quickly and put Biogen Idec back in the midst of a leading global cluster of life science companies, universities, and big pharma, he says.
