EF Education First Tops Off Third Building In Cambridge

EF Education First and Skanska welcomed Quincy rockers the Dropkick Murphys to celebrate The Local 7 Ironworkers who just topped out EF’s third new building in Cambridge’s North Point neighborhood. The band posed with the final beam of steel marking the structural completion of the building.

The party continues along with construction at a development at EF Education First’s Cambridge campus.

The global education company brought in a carnival for the October groundbreaking at EF III, its third building in Cambridge’s North Point neighborhood. It went for hard rock for the topping out ceremony at the Skanska-built project earlier this month. Quincy-based rockers the Dropkick Murphys performed just as the last steel beam was installed at the mixed-use building slated for completion in 2019.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with EF once again to help them realize their vision for North Point and thank the construction team and Local 7 for their hard work to achieve this milestone,” Skanksa Executive Vice President Bryan Northrop said in a prepared statement.

Scheduled to open in late spring of next year, the 300K SF building will include student housing, offices and a fitness center. EF employs about 1,200 people in Cambridge and has plans to hire an additional 300 over the next five years.
