The Hub (Former Boston Garden) Breaks Ground
The Hub on Causeway broke ground on Wednesday, kicking off a 1.5M SF mixed-use project on the old Boston Garden site. The team of Boston Properties and Delaware North says the first phase will bring a Star Market supermarket (downtown's largest), a 15-screen Arclight Boston cinema, and an underground connection from the North Station commuter rail to the MBTA’s North Station subway lines, reports the Boston Herald. This rendering was approved by the Boston Civic Commission.
From our archives, here's Boston Redevelopment Authority's Jonathan Greeley exactly two years ago in the soon-to-be-transformed parking lot. When it approved the plans in 2013, BRA estimated this project would cost $950M. Later phases will bring an apartment tower, a hotel and a 525k SF office building. [BH]
