Why Boston Ballet Leased A Chunk Of Newton Nexus
Retail is growing more experiential all the time, especially in a mixed-use context. An example: Boston Ballet just inked a lease for more than 26k SF at Newton Nexus, a mixed-use project in Newton.
The internationally acclaimed ballet company will relocate the Boston Ballet School Newton Studio from 863 Washington St in Newton to 153 Needham St in summer 2017, joining other tenants in the 142k SF mixed-use development at 141-165 Needham St.
“The advantages of the Newton Nexus location are enormous for a tenant like Boston Ballet," Avison Young principal Jack Kerrigan tells us. Newton Nexus provides free parking for students, on-site dining and retail options, with new retailers such as TJ Maxx, Sierra Trading Post and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza moving to the campus soon, he says.
The new location will allow for extended programming with a total of seven studios, and will better serve the community with more space, accessibility and amenities, Jack says. The expansion will update the school's facilities while maintaining its established rapport with the community.
"Newton Nexus provides access to all the conveniences of a Downtown Boston location in a suburban setting,” Jack says. He repped the landlord, Crosspoint Associates, along with principals Keith Gurtler and SVP Mark Coelho.
