Michael Dell Could Nab Boston’s Priciest Condo
Boston’s soon-to-be-tallest residential tower might house one of the city’s newest tech billionaire transplants.
Dell Technologies founder and CEO Michael Dell is under contract to buy one of three penthouses at the Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences One Dalton in Back Bay, the Wall Street Journal reports. Carpenter & Co. is developing the 740-foot tower, which is expected to open in 2018. Carpenter CEO Richard Friedman announced in April the company had a different penthouse under contract for $40M. Another unit went on the market in August for the same price.
All three penthouses are on the 60th and 61st floors of the tower, and the unit that went on the market at the end of the summer will be roughly 7,300 SF. The size of Dell’s unit is unknown but is expected to be similar in scope to the rest of the lofty trio.
Dell’s company finalized a $58.1B acquisition of Hopkinton-based EMC Corp. in 2016, and he made a personal real estate play shortly thereafter. An LLC registered to manage Dell's personal funds purchased an $11M penthouse condo in Downtown Crossing’s Millennium Tower at the end of last year. Millennium Tower was previously home to the most expensive condo sale in Boston history from its $35M grand penthouse sale. It has since been eclipsed by One Dalton.
