Genetic Engineers Take New HQ Space In Kendall Square
Intellia Therapeutics, a gene editing firm, has moved its HQ into 40 Erie St, taking 65k SF of the former Vertex Pharmaceuticals space near Kendall Square. The company plans to double the number of employees to more than 200 at the location, the Boston Business Journal reports. Intellia will maintain operations at its 15k SF facility at 130 Brookline St in Cambridge.
The space is in a three-building complex that BioMed Realty Trust redeveloped and rebranded as Sidney Research Campus. Intellia is notable not only for its work in biotech, but also for its IPO in April, which fetched it $163M (including $55M from Novartis and Regeneron). That's the largest biotech IPO of the year in Massachusetts so far. [BBJ]
