New York, Chicago, Boston Top Last Decade’s Office Sales
The Big Apple, the Windy City and Beantown are reigning champs in office transactions over the last 10 years.
Ten Manhattan office deals accounted for nearly $19B combined since 2010, according to a CommercialCafé report. Google’s $2.4B 2018 Chelsea Market deal topped the list, which also included HNA Group’s $2.2B acquisition of 245 Park Ave. in 2017 and Brookfield Properties’ $1.4B 666 Fifth Ave. buy in 2018.
Seven of the 10 most-expensive transactions outside New York were in Chicago and Boston. Blackstone Group’s $1.3B Willis Tower acquisition in 2015 tops the list, followed by Boston Properties’ $930M purchase of Boston's 200 Clarendon St. in 2010.
