Rapid7 Is Exploring 120K SF Headquarters Availability In Boston
While several technology companies have migrated downtown in recent years to satisfy space needs that could not be fulfilled in the city's typical tech neighborhoods, one cybersecurity company is already on the hunt for more space.
Rapid7, which moved to 100 Summer St. from Back Bay in 2013, has grown significantly since its initial lease. The company began with 43K SF and has grown to more than 66K SF across two floors at the Financial District tower, the Boston Business Journal reports. The company employs 400 and cites its growth as a response to increasing demand for risk-based security as opposed to prevention-based measures.
A Securities and Exchange Commission filing shows that, by November, the company will take over nearly 9K more SF at 100 Summer St., bringing its office size to just under 75K SF. A Colliers International Q3 2017 report says the company is looking for up to 120K SF.
“We are in the process of vetting our options,” Rapid7 spokesperson Rachel Adam told the BBJ.
Rapid7’s current home has seen a surge in tech tenants. Software startup CloudHealth Technologies announced in August it would triple the size of its Boston presence by moving into 80K SF at 100 Summer St. Along with Rapid7, the tower is also home to Bullhorn, a recruitment software company that moved from Fort Point into the building in 2016.
