This Week's Cool Office Space: Tocci Building Cos
Tocci Building Cos, a construction management firm, is at 660 Main St in Woburn, in the former Guastavino Tile Factory building, constructed in 1907. That year, a local Woburn paper described it as “an ornamental brick building that looks more like an art museum than a factory.” This delighted the stylish Guastavinos.
From the late 1900s through the early '30s, the Guastavinos were the premier Italian ceramic tile producer in the country. Tocci purchased the building, long shuttered, in 1998 and restored the structure to its original form, with added amenities and conveniences of a modern office space.
The office space includes features like an open concept collaborative work area and a conference room with an automatic garage door, and also incorporates the character and design of the original factory. The original Guastavino tile ceiling in the main lobby was preserved, as well at the original tile floor, exterior and kiln.
