WPI Looking To Connect Students With Fort Point's Tech Tenants
The technology industry’s explosive growth in Boston’s Seaport and Fort Point neighborhoods has inspired a local college to expand to the innovation district.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute announced Thursday it will lease 6,400 SF at 303 Congress St., the Boston Globe reports. The space will be used to link students, faculty and alumni to some of the neighborhood’s tech tenants. General Electric’s new global headquarters is under construction blocks away, and Amazon announced in July it will open a 150K SF office nearby at 253 Summer St. WPI will host meetings, classes and events at its Fort Point space to promote industry networking.
WPI’s office is the first time the school has leased space in Boston. Its main campus is nearly 50 miles from its new Fort Point venue.
