Speaker Spotlight: 5 Questions With Bergmeyer CEO Mike Davis
Student housing tends to fall by the wayside in the dialogue surrounding commercial real estate. Bergmeyer Associates president Mike Davis is determined to thrust one of the most in-demand submarkets of residential real estate back into the limelight at the Boston Higher Ed & Student Housing event on Oct. 20.
Bergmeyer recently built Endicott College’s Standish Hall, a student residence building for the college’s upperclassmen that opened last fall. The building had to be designed, built and move-in ready just one year after the Endicott realized it needed it. The technology that made it a success? Modular, off-site construction within a controlled indoor environment, which enabled rapid, high-quality construction even in the midst of Beverly, MA’s New England winter.
Bergmeyer and Windover Construction completed spacious, modern facilities on time, including 295 beds in 273 apartments, group study rooms and plush common areas to foster a sense of community.
Mike approaches every day with an eye toward the future, even while celebrating present accomplishments. He's gleaned lessons from past projects, such as the obstacles surrounding building Salem State University’s award-winning Atlantic Hall in a challenging environment of commercial bridges and tidal salt marshes.
Attendees of Bisnow's student housing event can anticipate ambitious-yet-realistic comments from Bergmeyer’s chief. He plans to address the knowledge the firm accumulated in the process of building Standish Hall, which he hopes to carry forward into the next project. Don't miss it!
