Mass. AG Files Suit Against Trump's Immigration Order, Which Could Hurt Boston Tech
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced today that the Commonwealth is filing suit against the Trump administration's executive order regarding immigration and refugees.
Boston's tech industry sees itself at risk of losing talent, since so many immigrants come to the United States to be part of the industry.
Over the weekend, Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council CEO Tom Hopcroft — who represents more than 500 companies in the state's tech sector — issued a statement that the order signed Friday is "bad for business, which favors mobility of talent and ideas, and bad from a human perspective, as it breaks families apart and creates fear by targeting a specific religious group.”
"Tomorrow, we will be joining in a lawsuit challenging Trump's immigration order," Healey tweeted last night. "What he did was unconstitutional & harmful to MA."
Healey announced the suit today at her office, along with execs from a number of universities and healthcare companies, whose operations stand to be affected by a tightening of immigration policy. Washington state AG Bob Ferguson made a similar decision on Monday.
