BUT THIS ONE GOES TO 11

Charlotte can thank relatively positive job growth for bringing it to within one digit of the Top 10 highest performing US cities based on key CRE market indicators, including construction activity, net leasing gains, and office vacancy. Charlotte's overall property performance after Q1 2011 places it 11th, according to Marcus & Millichap?s latest forecast report, up five places over last quarter. The report lauds the Queen City for above-average job growth, including about 1,000 new jobs in the financial sector in the past year. The report, however, does note that the performance is not as profound as in years past, when Charlotte was creating about 3,300 financial jobs per year. Marcus & Millichap predicts employment locally will expand by about 2%, (about 17,000 jobs) overall in 2011, up from about 5,200 in 2010. San Diego ranked 10th. New York was No. 1. (Surprise.)
