CMC-NE REVISING EXPANSION DATE
Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast hopes to complete a $265M expansion in the next three to five years, the hospital?s Lee Brower tells us. It's a drop back from an original plan that would have had the new facilities open by 2013. The State of North Carolina in 2009 approved Carolinas HealthCare System?s application to build a new eight-story patient tower and add a second story to the surgery center at CMC?s Concord campus. (The rendering above is from almost three years ago and may not be what the project will look like, Lee cautions.) Still, the project will include almost 425k SF of new space and about 80k SF of renovations. But it has been delayed because of the economic downturn and hospital management changes, Lee says. A new time frame for launching construction is expected to be formally announced this fall. |
