CRESCENT WANTS STUDENT HOUSING
Being a college student used to mean walking down the hall in a towel and flip flops and sharing the shower. But today, well, it's a brave new world. (For one, everyone wears barefoot shoes.)

Crescent Resources wants to build a student housing project across the street from UNC-Charlotte

Students have learned one thing: Living off campus is much, much cooler than dorm life. You get a pool, wifi, community center, and more. (That lesson cost $45,000/year.) Crescent Resources has picked up on the trend and is asking the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department for permission to build student housing directly across the street from UNC-Charlotte. The plan calls for as many as 54 units per acre  on the half-acre site, though a specific number hasn't been determined, Crescent?s Tim Dison tells us. The project doesn?t have a name yet, and Tim declined to say what rental rates might be. There's a public hearing on the rezoning Feb. 20.
