Fourth-Floor LEED
LEED isnt so strange in Charlotte any moreabout 120 buildings here have received the designationbut the latest local structure to win LEED, the Roxborough Building, is a little unusual: Only the fourth floor was certified. (If they can do that, can they LEED certify our cubicle? We have a low-flow stapler and low VOC whiteout.) That floor has been occupied by Turner Construction since last year, and the certification is a mark of that companys commitment to green practices. PM Realty Groups Katherine Sands, whose firm manages the property for Lionstone Realty Group, tells us that features to lessen energy and water consumption, as well as an active recycling program, allow PM Realty to reduce operating costs for the landlord and the tenant. Thats true even if only part of the structure is officially LEED.
