GARBAGE TO FUEL GETS CLOSER
ReVenture Park, a planned $1B private eco-industrial energy park targeted to open in two years, takes a bold step forward next month. The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners is expected to vote to shift all county waste from landfills to a new recycling plant at the site, which will then reclaim as much as 80% of the county?s trash and convert it to fuel. Modeled after similar plants in Japan and Europe, ReVenture is a joint effort between Charlotte-based Forsite Development and recycling giant FCR-Casella. The $120Mwaste-to-energy plant is only one feature planned for the 700-acre park. It will ultimately will have an 11k SF R&D facility and an 18-acre wastewater treatment plant. No tears here, Iron Eyes. |
