HIGH COTTON
The former Victoria Cotton Mill No. 2 building in Rock Hill, looks good for her age, courtesy of a makeover by Columbia, SC-basedConnelly Development. Originally built in 1890, the former mill building (and latter-day truck body plant) has been converted for low-income housing. The $8.5M Cotton Mill Village boasts 39 units of one- to three-bedrooms. Rental rates start as low as $437/month, and pre-leasing has been brisk, Connelly?s David Christmas tells us. Restoration of the 46k SF structure included a voluntary brownfields cleanup coordinated with the state, lead paint and asbestos abatement, and full replacement of electrical, plumbing and HVAC units. Also, it no longer shrinks when it rains. |
