ORR DELIVERS AIRPORT UPDATE
March 13, 2012
Charlotte-Douglas International Airport remains possibly the economic driver for the Queen City, and the nation's seventh largest airport continues to grow. Airport director Jerry Orr spoke at a Charlotte Chamber economic development breakfast last week, and offered multiple encouraging nuggets. Among them, Charlotte-Douglas served more than 39 million passengers in 2011, up 2% from 2010; and the local annual economic impact is well over $10B. Orr also advised that he is keeping pressure on the Feds to build a new control tower by 2019. |
