To glean the lessons learned when that city hosted the 2008 DNC Convention, a contingent of Charlotte business leaders recentlyhopped on a plane to meet with their counterparts in Denver. Charlotte Chamber president Bob Morgan tells us one of the main things Denver learned: Not all protestors are peaceful. Even though the Denver event was a success, the Mile High City had its fair share of self-described anarchists show up. ?That's not something we're used to on a large scale around here,? Bob tells us. Managing a potentially volatile situation will be imperative to the success of the 2012 convention here, he adds. ?We want our experience to be a lot more like Denver in ?08 rather than Chicago in ?68.? |
