SUSTAINABLE BEYOND "WAVE OF FUTURE"
February 21, 2012
Multifamily building owners and managers have found they can save as much as 4% on their operating costs by employing green techniques. (That might one day involve learning to raise chickens.) Going green is a goal of such local developments as the Catawba River District, CRD?s ED Edna Chirico tells us. The CRD is a 17k-acre mixed-use development being planned in West Mecklenburg County on the Catawba River. The project will, in time, incorporate education, agrarian, commercial, and retail components, as well as energy-conscious, high-density housing. The ?district? is the site of a former textile dye manufacturing plant and recently removed from the fed?s Superfund listings. |
