State Plans To Sell Former Prison Site Near Airport

The State of North Carolina approved three deals to sell state-owned properties in Charlotte and Raleigh that have been on the block for about a year. The former Charlotte Correctional Facility at 4100 Meadow Oak Drive that closed in 2011 is now marketed by CBRE. The state has accepted a $6M offer for the 49-acre property near the airport, the Charlotte Business Journal reports, from an as-yet undisclosed buyer.

In Downtown Raleigh, the state is looking to complete a long-term ground lease agreement for the state Personnel Training Center building on Peace Street and the Old Steam Plant property at 210 North Dawson St. All of the deals are part the state's Project Phoenix initiative, which is re-evaluating use of the state’s property assets.
