Construction continues for The RailYard, South End’s latest mixed-use development for Beacon Partners. In addition to 300K SF of creative office space in two eight-foot office towers, 30K SF of ground-level retail will surround The Yard, a 15K SF lawn with outdoor dining, shopping and entertainment areas.

An indoor area with roll-up garage doors called Grand Central will feature a coffee shop and café. Apartments developed by Centro Cityworks will also be on the property.

The new buildings will be designed to resemble industrial.

“The RailYard’s historic warehouse design is not only meant to blend into the neighborhood but also to accommodate a workforce who values outdoor space and the ability to walk or bike to work,” Beacon Partners' senior partner of the office division, Mike Harrell, said in a statement. “We’re excited about transforming this area into a destination for office tenants as well as for those living in the community.”

The RailYard is set to be complete in Q4. It will span a block flanked by Winona, Tryon, Winnifred and Bland streets. The RBA Group Inc. is the architect. Edifice Inc. will be the general contractor. LandDesign will be the civil engineer.

Beacon Partners is a Charlotte-based commercial real estate firm that leases and manages over 7.7M SF of office and industrial space in the Carolinas.
