Fiber Optic Specialist Locating HQ At Riverbend Village
Corning Optical Communications, a division of Corning Inc., is moving its HQ to Riverbend Village in Charlotte, where it will occupy a new 182,500 SF building. Corning Optical makes fiber optic cables, and is part of the New York-based materials science giant, maker of specialty glass and ceramics.
The company is moving from Hickory, where it will maintain a factory. About 650 employees will work in the new building. Grading of the development is nearly complete, with vertical construction set to commence in time for delivery in the summer of 2018.
Simpson Commercial and Landmark Development Partners are developing Riverbend Village, which will total 120 acres off I-485 and Mount Holly-Huntersville Road near Mountain Island Lake in northwest Charlotte. Lomax Construction is building the property.
In addition to Corning Optical, the development will include a 78K SF Harris Teeter and a Harris Teeter Fuel center, along with restaurants and other retail tenants. The property will also include over 500 residential units.
MPV Properties' Joey Morganthall and Keely Hines are repping Riverbend Village in leasing the remaining available space in the center.
