$100M NICHE
November 27, 2011
Aries Capital chairman and CEO Neil Freeman wants to close $100M in hotel deals each of the next two years, but not in traditional hotel refinancing. Aries has several construction projects in the works, including a new hotel near the Apple HQ in Cupertino, Calif., a 130-room mixed-use project in suburban Naperville, and three hotels about to close in Texas. Neil tells us he sees a trend of new hotels popping up where no one thought to put them—like major college campuses or business-friendly suburbs. (Growing up, nobody thought to put hotels in the conservatory wth Professor Plum, but that's where we found most of our Monopoly pieces.) He's also seeing an increased demand for hotel investment in Chicago as room rates rise. See Neil speak at the Bisnow Hotel Investment Summit on Wednesday.
