city approves $192M cargo center for o'hare
If the City Council approves, a new $192M Northeast Cargo Center will be developed at O’Hare International Airport by Aeroterm whose EVP Erin Gruver (second from left) was with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, commissioner of aviation Rosemary Andolino and alderman Michael R. Zalewski for the Monday announcement. Aeroterm will invest $130M and the airport $62M for the project. The new facility will increase cargo operations and make O'Hare even more competitive worldwide.The City says the new facility will create 1,200 construction jobs, 1,200 permanent jobs on-site, 10,000 jobs in the region and further Chicago’s position as a leading US gateway for exports to China. Aeroterm will also create a program to train students for aviation industry careers.
