ACROSS THE POND

The largest real estate merger in the UK has a US connection: part of the reason King Sturge chose to merge with Jones Lang LaSalle was because it wanted to take advantage of the access JLL has in American markets. We spoke with JLL's Andrew Gould and Richard Battten (formerly with King Sturge) last Thursday afternoon as they wrapped up their first week as a merged unit. JLL acquired King Sturge for 197M pounds sterling. (At today's exchange rate, that's roughly three David Beckhams.) King Sturge is a leader in the residential markets and management services while JLL is involved in almost all industrial transactions over 100k SF in the UK. The new JLL will continue to employ just over 2,600 people in 43 offices. |
