BEATEN AT THEIR OWN GAME
February 7, 2011
This isn't your kid's Monopoly. The University of Illinois Real Estate board hosted some real-money pros to play with some fake money at its 200 S. Wacker office on Thursday night. Among the players at the one-hour speed version were Handler & Thayer'sSteve Thayer, The John Buck Co's Bill Rolander, and Colliers International's David Burden. The play was intense, with JVs, ROIcalculations, and market savvy investment and development. David's $5,000 in assets won him Illini basketball tickets (not a bad investment).
Here's the UIRE board: CBRE's Jon Milonas and Rachel Waymire, University of Illinois' Julie Pfeiffer, Ernst & Young's Chris Sengenberger, Fifield's Carrie Houck, David, CBIZ MHM's Jim Javorcic, Bill (ready for the weather), CBIZ MHM's Matthew Anderson, Colliers' Jonathan Connor, Tishman Speyer's Jon Cordell, and CBRE's Greg Schlough. The fundraiser, in its third year, helps players make connections for real life transactions, too.
And we had to give props to last year's champion, Meridian's Steve Bus, here with Circle Realty Advisors' Alissa Helgesen and Vernick and Associates' Nick Hill. In real-life CRE, Alissa wants to double the 3.5M SF in assets under Circle Realty management this year, and Nick was celebrating a month at Vernick repping retail clients like Sherwin Williams. |
