BROWNFIELDS BRING OUT BUDDIES
June 29, 2011
The audience at our Midwest Brownfield Summit was as vibrant as the speakers. We snapped UGL Services' Mike Hoadley, Pizzo's Maggie Soliz, and Weston Solutions' Shawn Temple admiring the views last Thursday. Shawn told us he's working on the assessment and planning phase of a 40-acre brownfield redevelopment at MLK Drive and Sheridan Road in North Chicago, which could someday house retail and hotels for the nearby Great Lakes Naval Academy. |
Environmental Resource Management's Gregory Merritt and Mathew Aigner joined Gabriel Environmental's Judy Freeman and Terracon's Linda Yang for breakfast among the clouds. Linda just joined Terracon a few weeks ago. The group told us that as brownfields become more popular, there's more government regulations, but also some incentives for building on them. They encouraged potential condo buyers to check on the environmental records to see how cleaned up the sites have been before buying. |
